Seven-time F1 race winner Juan Pablo Montoya says Max Verstappen would be “stupid” and “crazy” to leave Red Bull, pondering whether a frustrated Jos Verstappen could be steering him that way?
Following the off-track tensions which blighted Red Bull earlier in the year, Max’s future with the team was called into question, with Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff looking to take advantage by making his strong desire to sign the three-time World Champion very clear.
Is ‘p*ssed’ Jos Verstappen pushing Max Verstappen to Red Bull exit?
During that chaotic period for Red Bull, Max’s father Jos did not hesitate to express his views. He even went as far as demanding the departure of team principal Christian Horner, who was under investigation by Red Bull GmbH for his conduct but ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing.
Although there has been a decrease in recent disputes, discussions about Max potentially joining Mercedes in Formula 1 are still ongoing. These talks have gained traction as the sport gears up for a new era starting in 2026, marked by significant changes to the chassis and power unit regulations.
Despite this, Montoya fails to understand any logical reason for Max’s decision to leave Red Bull. He speculates that Jos, Max’s father, may still be dissatisfied and exerting pressure on him to make the move.
“I honestly can’t envision Verstappen leaving; I believe it would be a foolish decision on his part,” Montoya expressed his thoughts to RacingNews365.
Max has been the topic of discussion, with people speculating, “Oh, he is likely to depart from Red Bull.” Meanwhile, you question, “Why would he consider leaving Red Bull when they are triumphing in everything?”
If you are present with the wrong intention, you will depart; however, if you have the right motive, you will refrain from interfering.
Perhaps Jos is angry and desires to push Max away. It is a possibility, however, considering his current circumstances, it would be illogical to depart.
“I had a similar experience, as I placed myself where I believed I belonged and found contentment in the choices I made.”

Max’s exit rumors gained momentum with the unexpected departure of Red Bull’s design chief, Adrian Newey. However, Max did not fully commit to his future with the team and stated that Newey’s exit currently had no impact on his own Red Bull journey.
“My Red Bull future isn’t affected at the moment,” Max replied when questioned about the impact of Newey’s departure.
Currently, it appears that individuals within the press are fabricating numerous claims due to their lack of comprehension regarding the dynamics of team roles.
