Sky pundit’s response to naysayers against three US Grands Prix on F1 calendar

Karun Chandhok finds it quite reasonable to justify having three races in the United States.

America now has the most races on the F1 calendar of any country in the world, but this isn’t a bad thing according to Karun Chandhok.

Last season, the addition of the Las Vegas Grand Prix to the calendar boosted the number of races in the United States to three, surpassing Italy’s count of two.

Karun Chandhok: The appetite is there for F1

Over the past two years, fans on social media have expressed their dismay over the United States hosting three races in the F1 calendar, which typically features only one race per country.

Non-US F1 fans had mixed reactions when the Miami Grand Prix and Las Vegas Grands Prix were introduced in consecutive seasons. This came after the United States had only hosted one race at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas between 2012 and ’21.

Adding to the growing dissatisfaction, there are rumors that more races may be included in the US calendar. This speculation is fueled by the fact that F1 has recently acquired trademarks for a Chicago Grand Prix and a New York Grand Prix.

Miami is hosting its third race this year, and it is gradually becoming a regular feature on the racing calendar. Sky F1 pundit Karun Chandhok highlighted the significance of the United States’ vast size when discussing the number of races held there, as it differs from most countries that typically host only one race.

“After Miami, Chandhok expressed his admiration, stating, ‘It appeared absolutely fantastic,’ during the Sky F1 podcast.”

“People often find it amusing how some question the need for three races in America, saying things like ‘Why do we have three races? It seems unnecessary. Blah, blah, blah.'”

“It’s easy to overlook the vastness of the country. When you visit Austin, Las Vegas, or Miami outside of the Formula 1 race weekends, during holidays or any other time, you quickly realize that these cities are distinct entities with diverse demographics. They each appeal to unique audiences not only within the country but also from various parts of the continent.”

“You begin to recognize the growing demand for F1 as all three races have sold out, which is beneficial for the business.”

The Austin and Miami race tracks are approximately 2100 kilometers away from each other, while Las Vegas and Miami are separated by a distance of 4000 kilometers. Interestingly, this is slightly shorter than the distance between the British and Azerbaijan Grands Prix venues, which are located on opposite sides of Europe.

Natalie Pinkham: Miami is now my new favourite Grand Prix

The third race around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami attracted numerous celebrity appearances, making this year’s Miami Grand Prix an exciting event. The weekend unfolded with Max Verstappen triumphing in the Sprint race from pole position, only to be outshined in the Grand Prix by Lando Norris, who secured his first-ever race victory.

In the eyes of Sky F1 presenter Natalie Pinkham, the Miami race has solidified its position as her favorite event on the calendar. She expresses that F1 has successfully made its mark in America after this year’s race.

“He laughed as he declared, ‘Miami has become my new favorite Grand Prix, although I must admit, it’s quite a bold statement.'”

People often ask me, “If I could only attend one Grand Prix, which one should I choose?”

“I constantly find myself in a dilemma when it comes to the British Grand Prix as my loyalty, passion, and upbringing near Silverstone pull me in different directions.”

Monaco is a place that is both incredibly wild and captivating, with a rich tapestry of history, elegance, and prestige.

“But Miami, oh my, it was a whole different experience. I believe they have successfully resolved the initial challenges faced in the first year. Many complaints were heard about numerous mishaps during the initial phase while they were trying to figure everything out.”

The operation ran smoothly, leaving no loose ends. Despite the presence of numerous celebrities, most of them demonstrated a deep understanding of Formula 1, with only a few exceptions.

“They were true enthusiasts, brimming with excitement and passion, embodying the essence of the sport.”

“It truly seems like we have not just conquered America, but we are now fully embracing and embracing the opportunities it presents. The level of excitement is truly exhilarating.”
