Mick Schumacher has described an F1 return as his “goal” amid rumours that the “unrest” between Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly following the Monaco Grand Prix could open the door at Alpine.
Alpine‘s drivers collided on the opening lap in Monte Carlo on Sunday, with Ocon‘s car launched airborne as he looked to complete a forceful pass on team-mate Gasly at Portier.

Due to his involvement in a collision, Ocon received a 10-second penalty which subsequently translated into a penalty of moving down five places on the grid for the upcoming race in Canada.
Gasly, notorious for his tense association with Ocon, could be heard venting his frustration over the team radio following the crash. Subsequently, when addressing the media, including PlanetF1.com, he expressed his astonishment and dissatisfaction with his teammate’s actions. Gasly urged Ocon to reconsider his approach and make alterations.
Alpine team principal Bruno Famin echoed Gasly’s reaction, cautioning about the potential “consequences” and affirming that the Enstone-based team would take a resolute stance by making a difficult choice.

Pierre Gasly: Esteban Ocon ‘needs to make a change’ after Monaco collision
On Monday, Craig Slater, the Sky F1 reporter, reported that Famin is seriously contemplating the idea of replacing Ocon for the Canadian Grand Prix.
The replacement for Ocon remains uncertain if that situation were to occur, as Alpine’s reserve driver, former F2 star Jack Doohan, currently holds the position.
According to Sky F1’s Ted Kravitz, there seems to be something going on within the Alpine team as Doohan, 21, was seen conversing with Famin after the incident involving Ocon and Gasly.
At present, Gasly and Ocon, who are associated with Alpine, are at the center of attention in Monaco. There are talks of their potential departure from Alpine for F1 2025, and it is speculated that they might join the Sauber team before Audi’s much-awaited entry into F1 in 2026.
If either of the current drivers for Alpine leave next season, Schumacher, who last competed in F1 with Haas in 2022, is expected to be a strong candidate for a racing position. Presently, Schumacher is associated with the French manufacturer in the World Endurance Championship.
In an interview with Sky Germany, the 25-year-old son of the legendary seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher has expressed his ambition to make a comeback in Formula 1.
He expressed, “My aspiration and lifelong dream is to participate in Formula 1 racing. This desire has remained constant and will continue to do so.”
We must ensure that the circumstances align in my favor, leading to a favorable outcome where I secure a seat.
“What I can do is commit to delivering my utmost performance in both the WEC and Formula 1, while maintaining my role as a reserve driver for the team. Additionally, I will actively engage in discussions to explore further opportunities.”
Famin noted his admiration for Schumacher’s ability to adapt to the demands of the WEC, acknowledging that disregarding him for a seat in F1 2025 would be an erroneous decision.
He expressed his satisfaction, saying: “I am extremely pleased with Mick.”
“He possesses incredible speed, yet that’s not the primary focus. In the WEC, it is crucial to maintain a consistently exceptional performance and foster a strong team spirit.”
From the very beginning, I have been incredibly impressed with him as he effortlessly adapted his attitude towards endurance racing. Additionally, he maintains excellent rapport with his teammates.
In 2025, there is an open dialogue among everyone, and people are engaging in conversations with one another without any limitations.
Not having Mick on the list would be an error.
