Sergio Perez of Red Bull Racing
Speaking to media ahead of the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix, Sergio Perez set a clear goal for his career: he fully intends to retire as a Red Bull Racing driver — when the time is right, of course.
“My plan A, B, and C definitely was to stay at Red Bull,” Perez stated, referring to the recent renegotiation of his contract that will see him remain with the team for two more seasons. “I really want to finish my career here, whenever that is. It’s a team that has given me so much.”
Sergio Perez highlights ‘intense’ Red Bull atmosphere
Several drivers have been vying for Sergio Perez’s seat at Red Bull, considering it as one of the most sought-after opportunities in Formula 1. This is mainly because Perez’s contract was due to expire after the 2024 season.
Earlier this week, Red Bull made an official announcement, stating that Perez had been re-signed for the years 2025 and 2026.
During the pre-race Canadian Grand Prix press conference, Perez stated that once an agreement is reached, it signifies the satisfaction of both parties involved and his readiness to progress. He expressed enthusiasm about the promising goals that lie ahead of them.
He went on to say that Red Bull is a team that demands your all, mentioning that this unique characteristic was evident to him from the moment he became a part of it. He elaborated that every aspect, both on and off the track, is filled with intensity. It presents a challenge unlike any other, one that cannot be found elsewhere.
“I am enthusiastic and fully committed to giving my utmost effort.”

Red Bull Racing has been F1’s most dominant success story over the past three years, with Perez’s teammate Max Verstappen sweeping up records, victories, and titles with ease. Perez has primarily played a supporting role for his teammate — but the Mexican racer has still claimed his best-ever World Drivers’ Championship results as a Red Bull driver.
During the press conference, Perez addressed the potential discomfort that could arise from such a comparison, stating his intention to “block out distractions and concentrate solely on my job, striving for personal and professional success.”
“When my career finally comes to an end, it will be the sole aspect that truly matters to me. I acknowledge that everyone holds their own perspective, but I am solely focused on maximizing my career and content with the accomplishments I have attained.”
