Yuki Tsunoda namechecks Aston Martin as potential Red Bull alternative for his F1 future

Yuki Tsunoda’s association with Honda is expected to continue intact despite the separation of the manufacturer from the Red Bull teams.

Yuki Tsunoda has reiterated his happiness at being within the Red Bull stable, but acknowledged that Aston Martin “maybe” could be on his radar in future.

Reports suggest that Tsunoda’s close ties with Honda, the power unit manufacturers for the Silverstone-based team starting in 2026, have fueled rumors of his potential move to Aston Martin. This speculation arises as Red Bull and Tsunoda are expected to part ways.

Tsunoda’s current contract with RB expires at the end of the season, though he has made no secret of his hopes to challenge for a ‘senior’ Red Bull seat alongside Max Verstappen next year.

So far this season, he has performed well alongside Daniel Ricciardo. He has out-qualified him 6 times out of 9 and out-raced him 5 times out of 8, in both Sprint and Grand Prix races. Unfortunately, both drivers were unable to finish the race in China, resulting in a double DNF.

Tsunoda, who has managed to stay in the discussion for the upcoming driver market, expressed his desire to secure a Red Bull drive for the next season. However, he also acknowledged the potential need to explore other options in the future. He mentioned Aston Martin as a possibility, although both seats are currently occupied by Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, who are under contract.

When questioned about his future, including what he may do next, he expressed his contentment with the VCARB so far, stating, “Yeah, I mean, I’m really happy with the VCARB.” This statement was made to the media, including PlanetF1.com.

Currently, we find ourselves engaged in intense competition, reaching levels as high as P7 or even P8. Consequently, it seems that alternative options are becoming scarce, given that the leading teams have likely been claimed.

We might be the strongest team in the midfield, at least that’s what I think. However, only time will tell.

Naturally, I believe that when I’m with Red Bull, my primary goal should always be to strive for success with Red Bull. However, if they do not want me or are not anticipating my presence in the team, and if I receive an intriguing offer that may even surpass the opportunities at VCARB or Red Bull, then yes, I would definitely consider it.

However, I also hold a strong sense of loyalty towards Red Bull, as they played a crucial role in bringing me to where I am today. Additionally, I cannot overlook my gratitude towards Honda for their support.

Speaking of Honda, and perhaps Aston Martin as well, both of these car companies have already been claimed by two drivers.

Well, yeah, it’s quite open, but I’m satisfied with VCARB so far.

Tsunoda sits 10th in the Drivers’ Championship standings so far this season on 15 points, one place above Aston Martin driver Stroll at this early stage.
