Canelo Alvarez expected to go head-to-head with UFC 306 at The Sphere on Sept. 14 in Las Vegas

Canelo Alvarez, the renowned boxing superstar, is in the final stages of preparing for his upcoming super middleweight title defense on Mexican Independence Day. The highly anticipated event is set to take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024, within the prestigious T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alvarez’s opponent is expected to be none other than the current NABO titleholder, Edgar Berlanga.

That’s according to ESPN.

Battling “The Chosen One” puts Alvarez head-to-head with the UFC 306 pay-per-view (PPV) card inside The Sphere, also in Las Vegas, forcing combat sports fans, or at least those who know who Edgar Berlanga is, to choose between two major fight cards.

UFC 306 is likely to feature Sean O’Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili for the bantamweight title.

On Twitter, Berlanga confidently stated, “I am the greatest boxer to emerge from the east coast. I’m exhausted from constantly showering people with affection, only to discover their hidden jealousy and envy towards me! This is precisely why I will continue to assert my dominance.”

Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) is coming off a decision win over Jaime Munguia back in May. As for Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs), he’s looking to build on his sixth-round knockout victory over Padraig McCrory earlier this year in Orlando.
