The ‘Fear No Man’ boxing event went down last night (Sat., July 20, 2024) inside Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., featuring a headlining bout between Jake Paul and former UFC star-turned Bareknuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) poster-boy, Mike Perry. In the co-main event, Amanda Serrano absolutely dominated Stevie Morgan to earn a second round technical knockout (TKO) win, while Lucas Bahdi delivered one of the nastiest knockouts we have seen in a while by sleeping Ashton Sylve (see it again here).
Biggest Winner: Lucas Bahdi
Our genuine concern goes out to Ashton Sylve after his devastating knockout defeat, but we must acknowledge Bahdi for executing one of the most brutal knockouts of the year. In the sixth round, Bahdi landed a devastating two-punch combination that halted the 20-year-old’s domination. Despite Sylve’s control earlier in the match, the power of Bahdi’s punches proved to be the deciding factor. With this victory, Bahdi maintains an impressive undefeated record of 17-0 and hands Sylve his first loss.
Runner Up: Jake Paul
It wasn’t as easy as “El Gallo” thought, but he eventually secured the stoppage win he predicted over Mike Perry in the sixth round. That is now 10 pro boxing wins for Paul, who will next face Mike Tyson (not Alex Pereira) in November. Love him or hate him, Paul looks to be improving every fight. Now, if we can get him to face actual boxers in the prime (not 58 year old’s) or opponents who are the same size, I can maybe get on board.
Biggest Loser: Stevie Morgan
The matchup between Amanda Serrano and Stevie Morgan was a clear mismatch. Serrano completely dominated the fight, showcasing her skills and overwhelming Morgan. Despite acknowledging Serrano’s impressive performance, it’s evident that Morgan looked like an amateur in comparison. Her punches lacked power, form, and overall effectiveness. Serrano quickly realized that Morgan was out of her league and proceeded to toy with her before ultimately ending the fight in the second round. Prior to the fight, Morgan appeared shaken during her interview after weigh-ins, and this unease carried over to fight night. Serrano has earned herself a rematch against Katie Taylor, while Morgan will need to regroup and face opponents who are not on Serrano’s level in order to regain her confidence.
