Does Sean O’Malley have a fight scheduled at the Sphere? “Suga” is uncertain, but he is training as if he does.
The big Riyadh Season Noche UFC card at the Sphere on September 14th (also known as UFC 306) is expected to be headlined by Mexican flyweight champion Alexa Grasso and a second marquee title fight. Neither has been confirmed yet, and the clock is ticking: 66 days to go as of July 10th.
Sean O’Malley, a potential headliner in the Sphere, is expressing his frustration regarding the UFC’s lack of communication about their future plans.
“I regret to inform you gentlemen that there is no update regarding the fight news,” he expressed regarding the latest Timbo Suga Show. “I am still eagerly anticipating the Sphere. The situation remains unchanged… Sphere or December. I’m confident that it will take place in Vegas, which excites me.”
It’s not like the UFC 300 situation, where there are no worthwhile fights. Here, it’s the complete opposite: the UFC has numerous fantastic options to choose from.
O’Malley mentioned that Dana repeatedly insists that it will be an extraordinary event. With the likes of McGregor, Chandler, Holloway, Topuria, myself, and Dvalishvili in the mix, there are some significant matchups that could potentially take place.
The UFC must make a decision at this juncture. Their actions are now encroaching upon fighter training camps, displaying a lack of professionalism.
He stated, “I swear, I haven’t received any communication from the UFC yet, and the deadline is rapidly approaching. Currently, I’m in training camp in case they do reach out, as there are just a little over nine weeks left. It’s definitely frustrating, but I have accepted the situation for what it is.”
