Who holds the title of the world’s greatest heavyweight fighter?
The winner of the UFC 304 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event between current interim champion Tom Aspinall and No. 4-ranked contender Curtis Blaydes, who will run it back this Sat. night (July 27, 2024) at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.
This statement is made by the British “Honey Badger.”
“I’m still gonna be an interim champion if I win this Saturday, but let’s make no mistake, this fight is for the number one heavyweight in the world,” Aspinall told Main Event. “Regardless of titles, which one’s the undisputed and which one’s the interim. The real people, the real fans, the real guys know this fight defines who’s the best heavyweight in the world. Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic are doing their thing, they’ve got a title, fair play. Whatever. This is the number one guy in the world fight.”
Or the “intern” heavyweight title fight.
Jon Jones captured the heavyweight crown by submitting Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 but has yet to defend the strap, thanks to a pectoral injury that delayed his Stipe Miocic title fight. “Bones” is expected to return in November but may retire at the end of the night.
Unless something crazy happens (like this).
