UFC 304’s Muhammad Mokaev reveals Manel Kape will be last fight on contract: ‘I’m on one of the lowest payments’

Muhammad Mokaev will have to do some negotiating after his big contender clash with Manel Kape at UFC 304 this weekend (Sat., July 27, 2024).

The Flyweight division has seen an influx of intriguing match ups and talent since Alexandre Pantoja began his reign in July 2023. Amongst the youngest rising stars in the mix is the undefeated 12-0 (1 no contest) Mokaev.

At 23 years old, Mokaev had his sights set on breaking the record for the youngest UFC champion. Whether he achieves this feat depends on how quickly he receives an opportunity. However, before that, he must ensure his spot on the roster by dealing with the potential threat of a Kape victory.

“I’m on last fight [of my deal] with UFC,” Mokaev told MMA on Sirius XM. “This is my last fight on contract, and I need to put on good performance to negotiate the new contract. It depends on my performance.

He expressed his desire to pursue the gold and expressed hope that the UFC would offer him a contract. His sole intention is to compete for the championship title, even if it means having one more fight before that. With six fights under his belt, he already boasts more finishes in the UFC. Whether he fights them now or defends the belt in the future, he is prepared to face any opponent. Money is of little importance to him, as he currently receives one of the lowest payments among fighters. He has never been one to ask for much in terms of compensation, as his main focus is on making a name for himself in the fight world.

Mokaev made his debut in the UFC in March 2022 and quickly built an impressive record of six consecutive victories. Hailing from Manchester, England, he will have the opportunity to compete in front of his home crowd for his highly anticipated match against Kape.
