UFC 304’s Paddy Pimblett scoffs at King Green’s willingness to grapple: ‘Levels to this sh*t, boy’

Paddy Pimblett plans to show up and show out in his potential last Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bout.

UFC 304 is right around the corner as the promotion returns to Manchester, England for a plethora of interesting match ups next weekend (Sat., July 27, 2024). Amongst the batch is a Lightweight contender clash that gives Liverpool’s “Baddy” the opportunity to enter the Top 15 with a win over the No. 15-ranked King Green.

At 29 years old, Pimblett has demonstrated his expertise in grappling over the course of his 24-fight career, boasting an impressive record of 21 wins and 3 losses. His victories have predominantly come through submission, with a notable nine submissions recorded on his resume. Pimblett has openly challenged the experienced veteran, Green, to a ground battle, and Green has confidently accepted the challenge, showcasing his own skills in the process.

“Bobby made me laugh after saying last week, ‘You said I can’t submit you, grapple with me then,’” Pimblett said on his YouTube channel. “Bobby put up a story saying, ‘If you wanna grapple, Paddy, then just sit down as soon as we start fighting and butt scoot towards me. I’ll sit in your guard.’

“Why on earth would I do that?” he continued, his tone laced with defiance. “I’m more than willing to engage in a fierce battle with you, but you’re suggesting that I cannot overpower you. Well then, let’s test your grappling skills. Let’s find out if you have the courage to face me head-on. Frankly, I doubt you possess the necessary bravery. Your lack of courage is glaringly obvious. And to add to the amusement, after he posted that story about scooting, he had the audacity to showcase his brown belt. It simply made me chuckle. I obtained my brown belt at the tender age of 21. There are different levels to this game, my friend.”

Green, 37, will enter the bout after a rebound unanimous decision win over Jim Miller at UFC 300 in April 2024. Two fights earlier, Green scored the first submission win of his 49-fight career (32-15-1, 1 no contest) since 2013 when he tapped Tony Ferguson with a third round arm triangle choke (watch highlights).
