We’re all just living in one big Kid Rock music video.
It was an eventful weekend in American history as former president, Donald Trump, had his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania cut short. In the middle of speaking, Trump suddenly went to the floor after grabbing his ear as the result of a bullet from a nearby shooter.
Rumors swirled that the former president was going to be at UFC Denver that same day but UFC CEO, Dana White, has confirmed that wasn’t true. White himself wasn’t in attendance for the event either, traveling to Italy. However, he had plenty to say about his close friend.
“I’ve been saying this forever about this guy,” White said on The Pat McAfee Show. “He is one of the toughest, most resilient human beings that I have ever met in my life.
“He’s the real deal,” he insisted. “Everyone talks a big game, but when things get real, you quickly separate the tough from the posers. This individual, however, is the epitome of an American badass. He gets hit, falls down, but rises up and rallies the crowd with chants of ‘Fight, fight, fight.’ I was genuinely amazed by his resilience.”
Trump and UFC are no strangers to each other. The Apprentice star has long had an affinity for mixed martial arts (MMA) dating back to his time as a shareholder in the Affliction promotion in the late 2000s. Trump has since been present at several UFC events and White will speak on behalf of him at the Republic National Convention (RNC) this week (Thurs., July 18, 2024).
White said that he immediately contacted Trump on Saturday right after his flight landed and Trump answered. During their 30-minute conversation, White informed UFC’s boss that he had already returned home from the hospital.
White said, “In all my years, I have never come across an individual quite like him. He truly embodies the epitome of strength and resilience, making him one of the most formidable and impressive individuals to ever exist.”
He persisted, “Look, I understand you have strong negative feelings towards him. Feel free to express your opinions without hesitation.” He emphasized that it was beyond dispute at this point. Absolutely beyond dispute. He recounted how a sniper had made an attempt on his life, narrowly missing him by mere millimeters as the bullet grazed his ear.
White concluded, “At nearly 80 years old, this man attempted to end his own life, but his response upon getting up was remarkable. I have known him for 25 years, and he is truly one of the most exceptional individuals I have ever encountered. He is an incredible friend and from now on, he will forever be known as the epitome of an American badass.”
