Video: Alex Pereira breaks down in tears while cutting hair for fan diagnosed with cancer

Although known for being one of the most intimidating and composed fighters in combat sports today, Alex Pereira, the current UFC light heavyweight champion, also possesses a tender side.

After defeating Jiri Prochazka with a stunning knockout at UFC 303, “Poatan” successfully defended his title for the second time in a row. What made this achievement even more remarkable was that both Pereira and Prochazka agreed to the rematch with only two weeks’ notice. Their willingness to step up saved the day and led to a tremendous triumph for Pereira, enhancing his already skyrocketing reputation in the UFC.

Pereira’s appeal to fight fans extends beyond his ability to knock people unconscious. As a former two-division GLORY champion, he carries himself with professionalism both inside and outside of the cage. Whether it’s speaking at press conferences or facing off against opponents, Pereira seldom shows a smile and remains unfazed by his surroundings. This demeanor sets him apart and makes for a captivating viewing experience.

Despite his aura of invincibility inside the Octagon, Pereira is still a human being just like the rest of us. Like anyone else, he has a soft spot for certain things in life, such as his family and fans. This is particularly true for those who are striving to overcome difficult challenges outside of the fighting arena.

Pereira was approached by a young fan this week who requested him to trim his hair. With a heart full of joy, the Brazilian champion gladly accepted the request. However, as Pereira conversed with the child and learned about his ongoing struggle with cancer, he couldn’t help but shed tears. Witnessing this emotional display was truly one of the most vulnerable moments ever witnessed from Pereira.
