Eeli Tolvanen signed a two-year, $6.95 million contract with the Seattle Kraken on Friday. It has an average annual value of $3.475 million.

Last season, the Kraken’s 25-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, displayed an impressive performance with 41 points (16 goals and 25 assists) in 81 games.

Tolvanen, who was drafted by the Nashville Predators as the No. 30 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, has accumulated a total of 19 points (57 goals, 62 assists) across 264 regular-season games for both the Predators and Kraken. Additionally, he has contributed nine points (four goals, five assists) in 21 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Seattle also signed Berkly Catton to a three-year, $2.925 million entry-level contract on Friday. It has an average annual value of $975,000.

At the 2024 NHL Draft, the Kraken made their choice at the No. 8 spot and selected an impressive 18-year-old center. Last season, he showcased his skills by leading Spokane and securing the fourth spot in the Western Hockey League with an outstanding total of 116 points (54 goals, 62 assists) throughout 68 games. His performance was remarkable, as he became only the third draft-eligible WHL skater since 2000 to surpass 115 points in a single season. This achievement placed him alongside the likes of Connor Bedard, who achieved an impressive 143 points in the 2022-23 season, and Nic Petan, who secured 120 points in the 2012-13 season.
