Islanders Sign Wahlstrom

Oliver Wahlstrom has been signed by the New York Islanders for a duration of one year.
Last season, Wahlstrom, who is 24 years old, accumulated a total of six points, which included two goals and four assists, throughout 32 games.
In his career, the individual hailing from Portland, ME has participated in 193 games with the Islanders, accumulating a total of 67 points (34 goals and 33 assists). Additionally, he has competed in 50 games with the Islanders’ American Hockey League partner in Bridgeport, recording 25 points (12 goals and 13 assists) during that time.
In the 2018 NHL draft, Wahlstrom was selected by the Islanders as the 11th overall pick in the first round.
Before starting his professional career, Wahlstrom played for the United States National Team Development Program and participated in the USHL during the 2017-18 season. He had an impressive performance, contributing 45 points (22 goals and 23 assists) in just 26 games, placing second on the team in goals and points. Additionally, he had a remarkable +30 rating, leading the entire USHL in this category. Following that, Wahlstrom joined Boston College for the 2018-19 season, where he accumulated 19 points (eight goals and 11 assists) in 36 games.
In the global arena, Wahlstrom showcased his talent as he donned the United States’ jersey in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship. Throughout the tournament, he contributed four points, consisting of two goals and two assists, in a total of seven games. His exceptional performance played a crucial role in Team USA’s achievement of a silver medal. Additionally, Wahlstrom continued to shine in the 2020 World Junior Championships, maintaining an impressive point-per-game average with five points, comprising one goal and four assists. Furthermore, his dedication to representing his country was evident as he also participated in two IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championships. Notably, he was instrumental in Team USA’s triumph of a gold medal in 2017 and their success in securing a silver medal in 2018.
