Veleno signs 2-year, $4.55 million contract with Red Wings
A forward at the age of 24 achieved personal bests in both goals and points last season, successfully steering clear of salary arbitration.

Joe Veleno signed a two-year, $4.55 million contract with the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. It has an average annual value of $2.275 million.
Last season, the Red Wings’ 24-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, submitted a salary arbitration request on July 5. Throughout his NHL career, he achieved personal bests in goals (12), assists (16), and points (28) while playing 80 games for the team.
Veleno, chosen by Detroit as the No. 30 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, has accumulated a total of 64 points (30 goals, 34 assists) throughout 232 games.
