Krug diagnosed with pre-arthritic changes in left ankle
If surgery is necessary, the defenseman will undergo re-evaluation in 6-8 weeks, and there is a possibility of missing the entire season.
Today, Doug Armstrong, the President of Hockey Operations and General Manager of the St. Louis Blues, revealed that defenseman Torey Krug has received a diagnosis of pre-arthritic changes in his left ankle.
The injury he is currently experiencing is a consequence of a bone fracture he had previously endured during his playing career.
Over the next 6-8 weeks, Krug will focus on non-surgical methods to rehabilitate the injury. Following this period, a re-evaluation will be conducted to assess the need for surgery.
The official announcement states that Krug is now deemed to be out indefinitely, and in the event of surgery, he will be unable to participate in any games during the entire 2024-25 season.
On October 9, 2020, the Blues signed Krug as a free agent when he was 33.

In total, he has participated in 778 regular-season games throughout his career, playing for both Boston and St. Louis. His combined efforts have resulted in a total of 483 points (89 goals and 394 assists), along with serving 374 penalty minutes.
