On Thursday, an article from The Athletic laid out all those wins in once place.

Writer Dom Luszczyszyn, in his 2024 contract efficiency rankings, once again placed the Panthers at the top spot, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication exhibited by Zito and his team.

Luszczyszyn’s rankings are based on a strict criteria focused on the future value of players. He evaluates their projected contributions while taking into consideration the remaining financial obligations of their contracts.

The Panthers were the sole team out of 32 in the NHL to be awarded an A+ grade.

Luszczyszyn expressed that Florida’s hold on the top spot is unquestionable.

The Panthers have achieved remarkable success by adding cost-effective depth players to their roster. However, it is the team’s significant contracts that truly elevate them in the rankings.

Zito’s tenure has set up the franchise for years to come by securing four of the most expensive contracts in Aleksander Barkov ($10 mil x 8), Matthew Tkachuk ($9.5 mil x 8), Gustav Forsling ($5.8 mil x 8), and Sam Reinhart ($8.6 mil x 8). All of these signings have received A+ grades.

With two division titles, two conference championships, a Presidents’ Trophy, and the prestigious Stanley Cup already under their belt in just four seasons with Zito leading the way, there is no doubt that the Panthers will persistently strive for additional accolades in the years ahead.
