Rangers Agree to Terms with Braden Schneider
Braden Schneider, the defenseman for the New York Rangers, has reached a two-year contract extension with the team, as confirmed by Chris Drury, the President and General Manager of the Rangers.
In the 2023-24 season, Schneider, at the age of 22, achieved his personal bests in multiple categories. He played all 82 games, dished out 14 assists, and scored 19 points. Additionally, he equaled his career high of five goals. Among the Rangers’ defensemen, he ranked second in hits with 167 and blocked shots with 133. In terms of NHL defensemen who logged 85 or more shorthanded minutes, Schneider placed fourth, allowing an average of 4.03 power-play goals per 60 minutes.
The blueliner, standing at 6-3 and weighing 211 pounds, has accumulated 48 points and a plus-13 rating in 206 NHL games over three seasons in New York. He has recorded 12 goals and 36 assists. Since his debut on January 13, 2022, the player from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, leads Rangers defensemen in games played, ranks second in blocked shots with 315, third in hits with 374, and fourth in points.
Schneider was originally selected by the Blueshirts in the first round, 19th overall, of the 2020 NHL Draft.
