Samuel Montembeault honored by his hometown of Sainte-Gertrude

Visitors to the Sainte-Gertrude community of Bécancour are now greeted by a sign that proudly displays the Canadiens goaltender.

Samuel Montembeault has truly become the pride of his hometown in Montreal.

On Sunday, the residents of Sainte-Gertrude expressed their admiration for their beloved Habs goaltender by revealing a brand new sign that warmly welcomes visitors to the Bécancour area.

Several months ago, local resident Eric St-Louis introduced the idea, which gained momentum as the community united to turn it into a tangible project.

A joyful ambiance brought together approximately 500 fans of various ages, eagerly gathering to witness the harmonious culmination of their efforts alongside their beloved idol.

Montembeault was deeply moved by the overwhelming support from his hometown, and he dedicated the entire afternoon to capturing memorable moments with fans through photos and signing autographs.

The end result pays a fitting tribute to the 27-year-old by showcasing him in his element as a goalkeeper, positioned between two goalposts.
