Travis Konecny signed an eight-year, $70 million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday. It has an average annual value of $8.75 million and begins with the 2025-26 season.

The forward, aged 27, had reached the last season of a six-year contract worth $33 million ($5.5 million AAV) that he had signed on September 16, 2019. He had the option to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

Konecny expressed his immense joy in re-signing with the Flyers, emphasizing the team’s promising and thrilling future. He eagerly anticipates being a part of the team for the next nine years and witnessing their accomplishments. Konecny extends his heartfelt gratitude to his teammates and staff members, acknowledging that this opportunity wouldn’t have been possible without their support. He eagerly awaits returning to Philadelphia to play in front of the world’s greatest fans and is excited for another fantastic season.

Last season, Konecny was the top scorer for the Flyers, netting 33 goals along with 35 assists, resulting in a total of 68 points. Additionally, he excelled in short-handed situations, leading the entire NHL with six short-handed goals.

Konecny, chosen by the Flyers as the 24th pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, has accumulated 400 points (174 goals, 226 assists) throughout 564 regular-season games. Additionally, he has contributed eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff matches.
