Utah Hockey Club Signs Forward Egor Sokolov to One-Year Contract
Today, the Utah Hockey Club officially announced the acquisition of forward Egor Sokolov, who has signed a one-year, two-way contract.
In 71 games played for the Belleville Senators (AHL), Sokolov, who is 24 years old, accumulated 21 goals, 25 assists, and 46 points. Additionally, he received 69 penalty minutes (PIM). His point total tied him for the second-highest on the team. Notably, Sokolov topped the team in power-play goals with 10 and shots taken with a total of 214 throughout the previous season.
During the 2022-23 season, the forward, standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 216 pounds, participated in five NHL games with the Senators. Within those matchups, he achieved a goal and assisted in another. Sokolov, recognized as a 2023 AHL All-Star, not only excelled individually but also emerged as Belleville’s top scorer with 21 goals and 38 assists, accumulating a total of 59 points and 72 penalty minutes in 70 games. Additionally, he contributed 10 power-play goals to his team’s success.
Sokolov, hailing from Yekaterinburg, Russia, has achieved a record of 1-1-2 and accumulated four penalty minutes in 13 games while playing for Ottawa. Additionally, he has an impressive track record of 76 goals, 104 assists, 180 points, and 177 penalty minutes in 240 games with Belleville.
In the 2020 NHL Draft, Sokolov was initially selected by the Senators in the second round with the 61st overall pick.
