Erik ten Hag’s team appeared to be replicating their worst performance from the previous season, as they allowed numerous opportunities for the Norwegians to score and were ultimately penalized.

Manchester United are back, but certainly not with a bang. Less than 24 hours after Spain beat England in the Euro 2024 final, the Red Devils began their pre-season campaign away to Rosenborg but they did not make the start they would have wanted to as they were beaten 1-0 in Norway.

United experienced a strong sense of Deja-vu from the previous season as they relied on luck and gave their opponents numerous opportunities, only to eventually concede a late goal.

After an outstanding performance, Czech goalkeeper Radek Vitek emerged as Manchester United’s busiest and most remarkable player. Despite making a series of exceptional saves, his unbeatable streak was eventually halted by Noah Holm’s close-range strike.

At half-time, Erik ten Hag made wholesale changes to his outfield players. However, he would have been pleased with Mason Mount’s performance, although Marcus Rashford and Casemiro failed to show any signs of improvement in their consistently underwhelming seasons.

Despite it being a friendly match, the manager was displeased with both conceding the late goal and losing the game. It is evident that there is a significant amount of work to be done, even though pre-season has just started.
