In Game 3, the Celtics secured a 114-111 win against the Pacers after a disappointing performance by the Pacers in the later stages of the game. Boston managed to erase an 18-point deficit thanks to an exceptional display by Jayson Tatum, who contributed 36 points and 10 rebounds, leading the team’s comeback effort. Additionally, Al Horford and Jaylen Brown added 27 points to the overall score.

Will Boston be able to advance to the NBA Finals, or will Indiana survive to compete another day?

Below, you will find everything you need for Game 4, including my predictions for the Celtics vs. Pacers game and the top NBA bets you can place tonight.

Celtics vs Pacers Game 4 Predictions & NBA Picks Today (5/27)

The Pacers have come to understand the difficulty involved in upsetting the Celtics, as it is not as simple as it sounds. Although they have displayed moments of potential in the first three games, their failure to maintain consistent performance for the entire 48 minutes has put them in a situation where they are on the brink of elimination tonight.

The Pacers appeared to be closing the gap in the series deficit during Game 3, holding a 12-point lead at halftime. They managed to extend this lead to 18 points early in the third quarter. However, their efforts were in vain, as the Celtics dominated the final frame, outscoring the Pacers by 15 points. This victory gave the Celtics a commanding 3-0 series lead.

The significance of Boston’s postseason experience is becoming more evident as the series progresses. With this being the Celtics’ sixth appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals within the past eight years, it is evident that their previous deep playoff runs are giving them an advantage against the less seasoned Pacers team.

Indeed, Indiana possesses remarkable scoring prowess, yet the skill of effectively sealing playoff games can solely be acquired through firsthand experiences.

The Pacers’ lack of playoff experience could cost them against the Celtics.

One advantage that the Pacers possess is that Game 4 will be held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where they had secured eleven consecutive victories before the recent loss on Saturday. However, the Celtics have displayed an impressive record of 5-0 straight up, with an average scoring advantage of plus-11.8, when playing away games during the 2023-24 NBA playoffs.

Furthermore, out of its last eight visits to Indianapolis, Boston has emerged victorious in five of them.

We’ll see if injuries can derail either side’s hopes tonight. For the Pacers, Tyrese Haliburton is questionable as he continues to deal with a hamstring injury after missing Game 3. For reference, Indiana is 10-14 SU in the last 24 games that the 24-year-old guard has missed.

As for the Celtics, Kristaps Porzingis (calf) has been ruled out again while Luke Kornet (wrist) and Jrue Holiday (illness) are questionable. Having said that, it’s worth noting that Holiday did participate in Monday morning’s practice.

Jrue Holiday’s status is up in the air for Game 4.

While nothing in sports is guaranteed, I don’t see the Pacers coming back, so take the Celtics to win. Boston is, head and shoulders, the better team here after proving it can come back from a seemingly insurmountable deficit. I just can’t bring myself to trust the Pacers even if the home-court advantage is on their side.

I’m also backing the Over on the 222.5-point total. The first three games of this series have seen an average of 240.7 points scored with tonight’s projected total being surpassed each time. With the Over also being 5-0 in the last five Celtics-Pacers tilts, it’s fair to say that fireworks should be expected.

Horford’s performance in three-point shooting was initially disappointing during the early postseason games. However, he has managed to improve his accuracy recently. In the last four games, the experienced player has been able to make an average of 4.0 three-point shots with a success rate of 42.1%. Notably, he has exceeded expectations three times in terms of this statistic. A remarkable example of this improvement was seen in Game 3, where he made 7 out of 12 three-point attempts.

Even though all streaks eventually come to an end, I believe Horford’s streak won’t stop tonight. The Pacers have been allowing the fifth-highest number of successful three-pointers with the fifth-highest shooting percentage in the playoffs. This presents a fantastic chance for the 37-year-old to maintain his impressive streak in tonight’s game.
