Their opponents have been denied any chances on goal, which has greatly benefited Emi Martinez. If they can maintain their strong defensive performance, I believe they have a great chance of winning the entire tournament. However, even if they aren’t challenged tonight, I still don’t foresee any difficulties for them.
Despite winning 2 matches and advancing to the knockout round, Canada’s offensive performance has been lackluster. Throughout the group stage, Canada only managed to have 7 shots on target in total, even though they had a numerical advantage in two matches that lasted over an hour. Although they showed improvement against Venezuela by rallying for 7 shots on target, they were only able to score one goal. If Canada fails to generate offense in future matches, their chances of progressing further will be at stake.
The Copa America Tournament will not have any additional time, and if matches end in a draw after 90 minutes, penalty kicks will follow. Although Canada managed to hold their ground against Argentina for the first 45 minutes, I doubt they can repeat that feat. It is crucial for Canada to score at least one goal in order to progress, as they are prone to conceding easily.
