Tonight, the Edmonton Oilers have the opportunity to secure their place in the Stanley Cup Finals by triumphing over the Dallas Stars on their home turf. Following suit, the Florida Panthers emerged victorious in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Rangers, ensuring their consecutive appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Oilers have the chance to achieve the same feat tonight, with their loyal fans cheering them on from the stands.
Stars vs Oilers Series History
Following their victory in Game 1 against the Stars in Dallas, the Oilers suffered back-to-back defeats in the subsequent two games. In spite of consistently outshooting their opponents, the Oilers were unable to overcome Jake Oettinger’s impenetrable defense. The Stars’ formidable defensive line proved instrumental in their success, blocking a staggering 22 or more shots in each of the three games.
In the fourth game played on their home turf, the Oilers found themselves trailing 1-0 less than a minute into the game, courtesy of Wyatt Johnston. Only five minutes later, Esa Lindell scored another goal, giving Dallas a quick 2-0 lead early on. With the Oilers already facing a 2-1 deficit in the series and now 2-0 down at home, the situation seemed bleak. However, this did not deter them. Towards the end of the first period, Ryan McLeod and Evan Bouchard both scored goals, resulting in a tie game at 2.
And the Oilers never looked back.
Edmonton managed to secure a 5-2 win in the 2nd period, followed by an empty net goal in the 3rd, thereby equalizing the series at two games each before returning to Texas. The Oilers carried their positive momentum to Dallas, where Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored two Powerplay goals to initiate the scoring, resulting in a 3-0 advantage. Although the Stars were able to score one goal in the 3rd period, they ultimately suffered a 3-1 defeat on their home ice.
Here we find ourselves once again, situated North of the Border, where the Oilers possess the opportunity to secure their destiny and emerge victorious in the Western Conference Finals. Will Connor McDavid and his team accomplish this feat? Alternatively, could the Stars spring a surprise and compel a Game 7 to be played on their home territory?
Can Dallas Extend the Series?
Can Jake Oettinger be the driving force behind the Stars’ unexpected success and help them prolong their season?

Will Oilers Seal Series at Home?
Zach Hyman’s exceptional performance in the playoffs has seen him netting an impressive total of 13 goals this year, making him the leading goal scorer for both the Oilers and the entire NHL.
The Oilers exhibit a great deal of inconsistency, but currently they are performing exceptionally well. In the regular season, they managed to secure three consecutive victories on six different occasions, not to mention an impressive eight-game winning streak and a remarkable 16-game winning streak. In this playoffs, they have already achieved two instances of three consecutive wins, notably triumphing in three consecutive games against the Kings. In my opinion, they will continue their victorious streak by defeating the Stars in tonight’s home game, thereby securing their place in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Jake Oettinger and the Stars defense have put in maximum effort to contain the Oilers offense, but it has proved insufficient. Throughout the series, the Oilers have consistently outshot the Stars, with an average of 30.4 shots on goal compared to the Stars’ 22.25 in their last four games. Moreover, the Oilers have scored three goals in four out of five games, while the Stars have only managed to do so twice. Given this trend, I lack confidence in the Stars’ ability to generate sufficient offense to match the Oilers’ relentless attack. Ultimately, the Stars’ defense will likely become fatigued.
The Stars are currently averaging 21.6 blocked shots per game, with 20 or more blocks in 4 out of 5 games. However, despite their impressive defense, the Oilers manage to shoot over 30 times per game. While I appreciate the offensive aggression of the Stars, I believe that Oettinger’s exceptional goaltending may experience a slight decline, along with the performance of the Stars’ defensive lineup.
I’m counting on the Oilers to get the job done, and I’m also getting quite ambitious about it.

Best Bet: Oilers in Reg (+122) Bovada
I believe the Oilers will conclude the game tonight. Their talented players are expected to shine in this crucial match. Witnessing the Panthers secure their spot last night, Edmonton is motivated to not waste any time with the Stars. They also do not want to provide extra time for their potential Stanley Cup Finals opponent to rest and prepare.
They all need to fully commit to ending this thing tonight.
The Stars’ scoring average this postseason is only 2.83 goals per game, with an average of 27.6 shots on goal per game. These numbers have dropped further in this series, and it’s unrealistic to expect Oettinger to have exceptional performances indefinitely. I have confidence in the Oilers to win tonight within regulation time, and I will also place a smaller bet on the puck line, hoping for an empty net goal to secure the series.
Take us home, Oilers.
