The Las Vegas Aces are on a hot streak and it was only a matter of time. Tonight, they will face Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, aiming for their fifth straight victory. The game will be aired on ESPN at 9:30 pm ET.
Thanks to their four straight wins, the Aces (10-6) are now 4.5 games behind the New York Liberty (16-3), who currently sit atop the WNBA standings.
With eight games remaining before the league takes a month-long break for the Olympics, the Aces have a chance to cut into that deficit before they welcome the Liberty to Michelob Ultra Arena on August 17 (4:00 pm ET, CBS) in their first game back.
This evening, the reigning champions will have a rematch against Clark and the Fever (8-12) for the second time this season. Although they may not be as dominant as the current Las Vegas team, Indiana’s performance has been improving lately. After a rough 1-8 start, they have managed to achieve a 7-4 record.
Despite their efforts to move in the right direction, they are predicted to be dismissed tonight, as the Aces hold a significant advantage.

The Fever achieved their most impressive victory of the season on Sunday, mounting a remarkable comeback from a 15-point deficit in the second half to shock the Phoenix Mercury at the Footprint Center.
Indiana had the final chuckle in a game filled with momentum shifts.
In the second quarter, Phoenix held a slim 31-30 lead before embarking on a dominant 22-8 run, giving them a comfortable 53-38 advantage early in the third quarter. However, Indiana swiftly countered with an impressive 27-2 run, propelling them to a 65-55 lead. Refusing to back down, the Mercury rallied back with a remarkable 23-7 stretch, putting them ahead at 78-72 with only 3 minutes and 5 seconds remaining.
In the subsequent play, Aliyah Boston, who has only attempted 13 three-pointers this season, successfully scored a three-pointer, reducing the Fever’s deficit to three points. This ignited a decisive 16-4 run for Indiana, ultimately securing their victory in the game.
If the Fever’s victory over the Mercury is any indication, it could have significant implications for their future. This win holds great significance as it marks their first triumph against a team currently positioned in the top half of the league standings. Notably, the Mercury have previously defeated the Lynx, Storm, and Liberty at the Footprint Center this season.
However, it is highly unlikely that the Aces will achieve a second consecutive success. Although they have faced setbacks against the Los Angeles Sparks and Atlanta Dream this season, their performance has significantly improved since Chelsea Gray’s return. The champions have now secured four consecutive victories with double-digit leads.

On the other hand, Chelsea Gray had a season-high 22 points, Tiffany Hayes tied her season high with 17 points, and Jackie Young led the team with 26 points.
In their home games this season, Wilson has been averaging 25.9 points per game and 11.6 rebounds per game, while Plum has been averaging 20.6 points per game and has a three-point shooting percentage of 37.2%. During the meeting between the Aces and Fever at Michelob Ultra Arena on May 25, Wilson had an outstanding performance with 29 points, shooting 12 of 18 from the field, and grabbing 15 rebounds. Indiana has played seven games this season and their performance has significantly improved. Clark is hitting her stride, Boston and Kelsey Mitchell are excelling, and the team seems to be coming together.
The team’s strong performance so far this season and their chances of making it to the WNBA playoffs for the first time since 2016 is a positive sign. However, it will not change the outcome of tonight’s game at Michelob Ultra Arena.
