Celtics vs Mavericks Game 3 Predictions & NBA Picks Today (6/6)

The Celtics have garnered significant attention as everyone watches to see if they can sustain their momentum in Game 3. A win tonight would bring them one step closer to claiming the coveted Larry O’Brien Trophy, underscoring the significance of today’s game for both teams. This is particularly crucial considering that no NBA team has ever managed to recover from an 0-3 deficit.

To start off the series, the Celtics have exerted their dominance over the Mavericks, limiting them to a mere 93.5 points per game on shooting splits of .445/.265/.651. Adding to Dallas’ struggle is the fact that their offensive prowess heavily relies on Luka Doncic, who has been averaging an impressive 31.0 points. Comparatively, the second highest-scoring player on the team, P.J. Washington, trails far behind with a 15.5 points per game average.

On the other hand, Boston has been scoring an average of 106.0 points per game, with a shooting percentage of 46.4% from the field and 32.1% from beyond the arc. Although these success rates are not the highest, they still surpass those of Dallas.

Having said that, the Celtics could be without Kristaps Porzingis, who’s dealing with a concerning lower-leg problem. The European center played an integral role in Boston’s Game 1 victory and even tallied 12 points, four rebounds, and two blocks in Game 2.

Will Kristaps Porzingis suit up in Game 3 of the NBA Finals?

Meanwhile, the Mavericks don’t have any injury designations outside of Luka Doncic, who’ll probably play through his chest injury.

Dallas is optimistic that their home-court advantage will prove beneficial tonight. The Mavericks have performed well at the American Airlines Center this season, emerging victorious in 12 out of their last 16 home games. Additionally, they have maintained a respectable 5-3 record in the postseason.

On the other hand, the Celtics have a winning streak of six consecutive road games and have outscored their opponents by an average margin of plus-5.3. It is worth noting that they have also emerged victorious in their last two visits to the American Airlines Center, including a 119-110 triumph against Dallas on January 22, 2024.

Having said that, I expect the Celtics to continue their momentum with a win tonight. I just can’t buy into the Mavericks after what happened in Games 1 and 2. The series moving to Dallas won’t make a difference, especially with how Boston already succeeded at AAC earlier this season.

The Under on the 213-point total makes sense. The Under is 5-0 in the Celtics’ last five games in June and 6-1 in the Mavericks’ last seven games against the Eastern Conference. Four of the last five Boston-Dallas matchups also fell short of their projected total with both games in this series finishing with fewer than 213 points.

Put simply, anticipate another strong defensive performance.

Tatum has gained recognition for various attributes, and his skill in creating plays is among them. As a five-time NBA All-Star, he has averaged 6.8 assists in his most recent 10 games, successfully surpassing this statistic six times, including three out of the last four matches. Moreover, in his last seven games, he has maintained an average of 6.3 assists per game, only falling short of surpassing this mark twice.

Tatum, having accumulated 12 assists during Game 2, appears ready to deliver yet another outstanding performance tonight.
