Will Lando Norris experience another instance of missed opportunities in today’s Hungarian Grand Prix, just like the previous three races on the Formula 1 calendar?
During the Spanish Grand Prix, Norris commenced the race in pole position, marking only the second time in his Formula 1 career. However, his lead was swiftly snatched by Max Verstappen, and despite his efforts, Norris could not reclaim it, ultimately settling for second place behind the reigning world champion.
During the Austrian Grand Prix, the McLaren driver positioned himself strategically to possibly overtake a struggling Verstappen towards the end of the race. Unfortunately, their collision occurred, causing Norris to fail to complete a race for the first time since the previous season’s Las Vegas Grand Prix.
During the British Grand Prix, Norris was in a prime position to secure his second victory of the season. However, he fell behind Lewis Hamilton after a crucial pit stop, ultimately settling for third place behind the eventual winner Hamilton and the runner-up Verstappen.
If Norris had been successful in Austria or any of the other two races, the current standings of the Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship would have been completely altered. However, Verstappen has not only maintained his lead in each race, but has also extended it, now sitting 84 points ahead of Norris as we reach the halfway mark of the season.

As Verstappen continues to extend his championship lead, the World Constructors’ Championship race is becoming more intriguing. Despite Red Bull’s comfortable advantage over Ferrari and McLaren, Sergio Perez has experienced a string of disappointing performances, failing to secure a position higher than seventh in his last six races. Ferrari holds onto second place despite facing some recent challenges, but McLaren’s recent surge in performance adds an exciting element to the second half of the season.

Today might be the day when McLaren and Ferrari exchange positions, while simultaneously witnessing a significant tightening of competition between them and Red Bull.
The McLaren duo of Norris and Piastri will occupy the first two spots on the Hungarian Grand Prix starting grid, and while Verstappen will fancy his chances of a win despite starting third, Perez will start 16th after another forgetful qualifying effort.

Hungarian Grand Prix Predictions & Picks
Verstappen’s path to another Formula 1 title remains strong, having secured seven wins so far.
Hamilton’s remarkable triumph at Silverstone marked the entrance of the sixth driver to claim a victory this season. This achievement came merely a week after his teammate Russell became the fifth driver to do so by winning the Austrian Grand Prix.
Will Hamilton be able to secure a podium finish for the third consecutive race, despite starting in fifth position today? I am confident in this possibility with odds of +200. Hamilton has consistently finished fourth or better in the past four races, giving him an advantage over Sainz (+185). Trusting Mercedes more than Ferrari, I believe Hamilton (-130) will finish ahead of Sainz (+100). Additionally, opting for Hamilton (+240) to finish ahead of Piastri (-300) seems like a wise choice.
Will his teammate experience a more favorable outcome today compared to his disappointing performance at Silverstone? Russell, who secured pole position in the British Grand Prix, encountered bad luck and had to retire from the race with less than 20 laps remaining. Unfortunately, this streak of misfortune continued into the Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying session, where he failed to progress beyond Q1.
But Norris had the 13th best time in Q1 before posting the quickest times in Q2 and Q3, so Russell’s qualifying pace isn’t indicative of what he may do today. It’s a lot of ground to make up, but I also like the value in him landing a top-six finish (+200).
My favorite Formula 1 bet for this race is for Hulkenberg (+155) to finish better than Ricciardo (-185). Ricciardo will start ninth while Hulkenberg will start 11th, but Hulkenberg has finished ahead of Ricciardo nine times in a dozen races.
However, in Hungary, the question remains: who will emerge victorious? While Norris may be the preferred choice, I simply cannot overlook the opportunity to bet on Verstappen (+160) to finish ahead of Norris (-200) or even secure a win at these odds.
