Las Vegas Aces vs Dallas Wings WNBA Odds & Picks | June 5, 2024

The Western Conference Showdown is here as the Las Vegas Aces face off against the Dallas Wings at the College Park Center. It marks the inaugural encounter between these two teams this season.

With a 4-2 record, Las Vegas is currently ranked second in the Western Conference. The team, led by the reigning league MVP A’ja Wilson, boasts the exceptional talents of guards Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum.

The majority of the players from last year’s team remained intact, with the notable exception of Candace Parker, a future Hall of Famer who retired after an impressive 16-year career in the league.

The Aces have been dominating this season, leading the league in points per game, pace, and free throw percentage. They also hold a solid 3rd position in both rebounding and 3-point shooting. This team exhibits exceptional performance on both offense and defense, showcasing a complete game.

Do the Wings have what it takes to hold off the Aces?

Despite having a 3-4 record, Dallas is undeniably a formidable team. They showcased their prowess last year by being one of the top contenders in the Western Conference, and now they simply need to regain their momentum.

It’s definitely a positive to have the top scorer in the league on your team. Arike Ogunbowale has been consistently averaging 26.6 points per game this season. Additionally, she contributes 4.9 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game, highlighting her significant role within the team.

Natash Howard, the injured forward for the Wings, has been absent from the team since the first game of the season. Unfortunately, she sustained a foot fracture and is expected to be out for approximately four more weeks.

Both Monique Billings and Maddy Siegrist have emerged as key players. Billings is currently delivering an average of 14 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, effectively filling the void left by Howard. Similarly, Siegrist has been making significant contributions with 13.4 points per game.

Shall we examine the probabilities and delve into the selections?

The sportsbook has an intriguing line that catches my attention. Personally, I find 7.5 points to be quite substantial, and it seems like the Wings are undervalued here. Anticipating a fierce and challenging match, I believe it will be a closely contested game. Consequently, I am inclined to choose the Wings spread.

Ogunbowale will be shooting and her scoring abilities are difficult to restrain. If the Aces can prevent her from reaching 20 points, there might be a chance for the Wings to not cover the spread.

As always, A’ja is expected to perform exceptionally well. However, the Wings’ success in this game will depend on their ability to limit her impact and make her take difficult shots. Additionally, they must also strive to force their opponents into taking poor shots from the outside.

When it comes to A’ja, I really admire her ability to grab rebounds. I believe she can easily achieve 12 or more boards in a game. I won’t focus on her points as she might face tough defense. Another great choice would be Kelsey Plum, who I expect to make at least 3 three-pointers.
