Wednesday’s MLB schedule begins at 12:10 p.m. ET as the Seattle Mariners (45-37) and Tampa Bay Rays (40-40) close out their series at Tropicana Field.

After an impressive 11-3 victory on Tuesday, the Rays have the opportunity to sweep the Mariners. The game remained tied at 2-2 until the sixth inning, when Tampa Bay dominated by outscoring Seattle 9-1 in the remaining four frames to secure a well-deserved win.

Will Seattle be able to salvage the series by securing a victory, or will Tampa Bay demonstrate their ability to complete the sweep?

Below, you can find everything you need to know about this afternoon’s action, including my predictions for the Mariners vs. Rays game and the top MLB bets.

Mariners vs Rays Predictions & MLB Picks Today (6/26)

The Rays have everyone’s attention as they aim to complete a sweep this afternoon. Although their season started off on a rough note, they have recently turned things around, winning 7 out of their last 9 games while outscoring their opponents by an average of 2.2 runs per game.

The Mariners have been consistently outplayed by the Rays in this series, with a score of 15-6 in favor of Tampa Bay after the first two games. Most of the Rays’ success has occurred in the later stages of the game, as they have managed to score 12 runs in the last four innings of each match. In contrast, Seattle has only been able to score two runs during those same periods.

Over the past two weeks, the Mariners have consistently disappointed their fans. Despite holding the top position in the AL West, Scott Servais’s team is starting to lose its hold after suffering six losses in the last seven games.

The Mariners’ slump can be largely attributed to their lackluster batting performance. Throughout this period, they only managed to score an average of 3.6 runs per game and were limited to three runs or less in five instances.

The Mariners need their bats to wake up if they want to end their slump.

The Mariners can take some comfort in the fact that Ryan Pepiot, the right-handed pitcher for the Rays, has had a rather ordinary season with a 4.61 ERA in 13 starts. Additionally, the 26-year-old is currently experiencing a downturn in his performance, as he has given up 11 earned runs and five home runs in his last three starts, resulting in 18 hits. In two of these games, he was unable to pitch beyond the fifth inning.

In the meantime, George Kirby from Seattle has been performing exceptionally well. The previous All-Star right-handed pitcher has managed to complete five consecutive starts without surrendering more than two earned runs. During this impressive streak, he has achieved a record of 2-0, maintaining an outstanding ERA of 1.74 and averaging 9.3 strikeouts per nine innings.

With that being said, I’m taking the Mariners to emerge victorious this afternoon. While the Rays have been the better team early in this set, the Mariners are due to break out of their slump and I see that happening against Pepiot, who’s struggling to stay in games.

As for the best bet, it has to be the Over on the 7-run total. The last five Mariners-Rays matchups featured a combined average of 10.6 runs with each contest finishing with no fewer than seven. Additionally, the Over is 9-2 in Seattle’s last 11 road games.

Best Mariners vs Rays MLB Player Prop (6/26)

There are a few Mariners vs. Rays plus-money props I like this afternoon, including Ty France to record 2+ total bases (+131).

France, despite recent struggles, seems to be bouncing back with a remarkable 427-foot home run last night. This promising development comes as a relief for the former 2015 34th-round pick, who will aim to maintain his positive momentum against Ryan Pepiot. Lately, Pepiot has been giving up numerous hits and home runs during his previous starts. Fortunately, France has displayed impressive hitting performance against right-handed pitchers this season, accumulating 15 out of his 19 extra-base hits in such matchups.

France is expected to make a significant impact as the Mariners strive for a crucial victory.
