Updated College Football Playoff Format
Is Carson Beck capable of leading Georgia to an SEC Championship?
The College Football Playoff has been expanded to include 12 teams, who will compete in a bracket-style tournament. The top four teams will be the conference champions, ranked from 1 to 4, and they will receive a bye in the first round. The remaining teams, seeded 5 to 12, will face each other in the first round, with the higher seed hosting the game.
The Quarterfinals are scheduled to take place on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The Semifinals will then be held on the Thursday and Friday of the subsequent week. Finally, the National Championship will be played a week after that on Monday. Having an extended postseason has never negatively impacted anyone, right?
Here are the odds of qualifying for the 12-team format now that the field has been opened up.
