The PGA Tour will head to Ontario’s Hamilton Golf and Country Club for the RBC Canadian Open, as part of a three-week stretch featuring two prominent events surrounding the third major of the season.
This week, as was also observed during the last two rounds of the Charles Schwab Challenge, the course will witness numerous individuals burdened with heavy hearts.
Grayson Murray, a two-time PGA Tour winner, tragically passed away on Saturday morning, coinciding with the occurrence of the third round.
After completing 16 holes in the second round, Murray decided to withdraw from the tournament. Sadly, on Sunday, his parents made the heartbreaking announcement that the 30-year-old, who had been candid about his personal challenges, had taken his own life.
Despite the heartbreaking news, the Charles Schwab Challenge proceeded with the consent of Murray’s parents. Davis Riley secured his second career PGA Tour title, finishing five strokes ahead of Scottie Scheffler and Keegan Bradley.
Although Scheffler won’t be participating in the tournament this week, a number of well-known players will be joining. The main attraction is Rory McIlroy, a two-time winner of the RBC Canadian Open, who emerged victorious the last time it took place at this course back in 2019. McIlroy is highly favored to win, surpassing the likes of Tommy Fleetwood and Sahith Theegala.
He will join an elite group of only four other golfers who have achieved three or more RBC Canadian Open victories, if he can prove his status.

RBC Canadian Open Predictions & Picks
RBC Canadian Open Winner Prediction & Pick: Rory McIlroy (+400)
During the previous RBC Canadian Open held at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, McIlroy emerged victorious with an outstanding final-round score of 61, finishing a remarkable seven strokes ahead of Lowry and Webb Simpson.
It would be hard to pick against him as it is, but in his last three tournaments, he has two wins (the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Lowry and the Wells Fargo Championship) and a tie for 12th (PGA Championship). So, he is in good form heading into the tournament.
Shane Lowry to finish in the top 10 (+250)
After securing a tied sixth position at the PGA Championship, Lowry is once again ready to compete this week. Considering his impressive performance at Valhalla and his previous success at this particular course in 2019, it is highly likely that he will be a strong contender.
Alex Noren to finish in the top 20 (+115)
This is my favorite RBC Canadian Open bet. Here is how Noren has performed in his last eight tournaments (most recent first): tied for 12th, tied for 24th, third, tied for 23rd, tied for 14th, tied for 11th, tied for 19th, tied for ninth.
Adam Hadwin to finish in the top 20 (+200)
After achieving a season-best tie for fourth at the Genesis Invitational in February, Hadwin’s performances have been lackluster, with only one top 40 finish (a tie for fifth at the Valspar Championship in March). However, it is worth supporting him in this particular event. In the 2019 RBC Canadian Open, he secured a commendable sixth place finish and remained in contention for the victory going into the final round.
