Red Sox vs Dodgers MLB Betting Trends

  • In the past eight road games, Boston has achieved a 7-1 record.
  • In their previous seven games, the Dodgers have a record of 1 win and 6 losses.
  • In each of Boston’s last five games, the Under was achieved for the total.
  • In six out of the Dodgers’ last seven home games, the total exceeded the Over.
  • In all of the past five Red Sox-Dodgers matchups, the total score exceeded the set Over line.

Red Sox vs Dodgers Predictions & MLB Picks Today (7/19)

Despite the Dodgers being favored by BetOnline to win the 2024 World Series at +340, while the Red Sox are placed 12th at +4000, their performance on the field does not reflect this significant difference in championship odds.

Despite having the second-best NL record, the Dodgers have only managed to win three out of their last 11 games. In their most recent seven games before the MLB All-Star Break, they suffered a 1-6 SU record. It remains to be seen whether the break was sufficient for them to regain their momentum.

On the other hand, the Red Sox have taken a contrasting path. Over the period starting from June 15, they have emerged as the frontrunners among all 30 MLB teams with an astounding 72.0% winning rate. During this span, Boston has excelled in various aspects, securing top rankings in runs (7th), home runs (8th), stolen bases (3rd), batting average (4th), on-base percentage (6th), and slugging (3rd).

This season, the Red Sox have a record of 20-14 (58.8%) when playing against National League teams. On the other hand, the Dodgers have a record of 14-9 (60.9%) when facing American League opponents.

The Red Sox have been the No. 1 team in the Majors since the middle of June.

The Red Sox have had no trouble playing on the road either, as they have won 7 out of their last 8 away games, averaging a 1.4-run lead per game against their opponents. On the other hand, the Dodgers have struggled in their last five home games, winning only 2 of them and allowing their opponents to score at least nine runs in each loss.

In recent times, the Red Sox have had a slight advantage over the Dodgers, winning eight out of the last 13 meetings between the two teams. Their most recent encounter took place at Fenway Park in August, where Boston emerged victorious in two out of three games. This win also contributed to the Red Sox’s impressive record of winning four out of the last five games against the Dodgers.

In order for the Red Sox to sustain their momentum, RHP Nick Pivetta needs to improve. Despite being a 31-year-old Canadian right-handed pitcher, Pivetta has only secured one victory in his past six starts. Moreover, his performance has been lackluster with a 5.18 ERA, and he has struggled to pitch beyond the fifth inning in three outings.

Although Gavin Stone has performed consistently well for the Dodgers throughout most of the season, he has encountered recent difficulties. The former Central Arkansas player has given up eight earned runs and two home runs on 16 hits in his last two starts, spanning 7 2/3 innings, resulting in a 9.39 ERA.

Will Dodgers RHP Gavin Stone break out of his funk tonight?

Even though the Dodgers have the home-field advantage, I predict a Red Sox win on Friday. Boston is playing like a legitimate World Series contender while LA has been stuck in a rut for weeks. Throw in the fact that Stone is coming off back-to-back disasters and I won’t be shocked if Alex Cora’s club sneaks away with the win.

But no matter who’s victorious, I’m eyeing the Over on the 8.5-run total. After all, the Over is 6-1 in the Red Sox’s last seven games against NL clubs and 6-1 in the Dodgers’ seven previous home meetings. Each of the last five Boston-LA matchups also finished with the Over, averaging a combined 11.8 runs per game.

With Pivetta’s last 11 starts averaging 9.6 runs and Stone’s previous six averaging 9.3, it’s highly likely that we will witness a high-scoring game tonight.

Best Red Sox vs Dodgers MLB Player Prop (7/19)

Based on his recent play, I’m taking Gavin Stone o2.5 earned runs (+112) for tonight’s best Red Sox vs. Dodgers player prop.

Once again, Stone’s performance in the 2024 campaign has been lackluster as he has conceded four earned runs in each of his last two starts. Adding to his struggles, the Over has prevailed in three out of his last five appearances and in three out of his four recent home games. During this period, Stone’s ERA stands at 4.71.

I anticipate another challenging night for the 25-year-old right-handed pitcher, as the Red Sox’s bats have been performing exceptionally well prior to the break.

Best Red Sox vs. Dodgers MLB Prop Bet: Gavin Stone o2.5 Earned Runs (+112)
