The Kansas City Royals (36-26) and Cleveland Guardians (40-20) will meet again on Thursday for the second game of their three-match series at 1:10 p.m. ET, keeping their AL Central rivalry alive.

Last night at Progressive Field, the Guardians kicked off the series with a spectacular 8-5 victory, accompanied by a magnificent fireworks display. Cleveland’s impressive offensive performance was highlighted by Josh Naylor and Tyler Freeman, who each hit home runs. Additionally, right-handed reliever Cade Smith secured his third win of the season.

Can Cleveland secure a 2-0 series lead by winning, or will Kansas City bounce back from yesterday’s blown lead?

As we go through today’s Royals vs. Guardians predictions and top MLB bets, let’s address those questions.

  • In six out of the last eight games against the AL Central, Kansas City exceeded the total.

Royals vs Guardians Predictions & MLB Picks Today (6/6)

Last night, the Royals appeared to be on track for a triumph as they held a convincing 5-0 lead going into the bottom of the fourth inning. Regrettably, their fortunes took a turn for the worse. Throughout the remainder of the game, the Royals failed to add any more runs, allowing the Guardians to gradually catch up and eventually equalize the score in the seventh inning.

Disaster struck when Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. made a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh, resulting in the Guardians scoring three runs. In the ninth inning, Emmanuel Clase entered the game and successfully closed it out with his 19th save of the year. The rest of the game became history.

Kansas City’s ongoing struggles were highlighted by the loss, bringing their record to 1-4 in their last five games and 1-5 in their last six road matches. On the other hand, Cleveland’s performance has been impressive, with a record of 13-3 in their last 16 games and winning 10 out of their previous 11 home games before today’s match.

The Guardians have won 13 of their last 16 games at Progressive Field.

It should be noted that the Royals have had difficulties performing in Cleveland. They have suffered defeat in eight out of their last ten visits to Progressive Field, with the Guardians outscoring them by an average of 2.8 runs per game. Additionally, in four of those games, Kansas City conceded a minimum of eight runs.

To put it differently, the Royals are optimistic about starting pitcher Brady Singer’s ability to break the pattern. Despite his impressive record of 4 wins and 2 losses with a 2.63 ERA, Singer has struggled in his previous four starts against division rival Cleveland, resulting in 2 losses and a high ERA of 6.35.

In the meantime, the Guardians are relying on Tanner Bibee to accomplish the task at hand. Not only does the 25-year-old pitcher boast an impressive 2.83 ERA and 30 strikeouts in his last 28 2/3 innings, but Cleveland has also emerged victorious in each of Bibee’s previous five starts.

Taking everything into account, I’m taking the Guardians to win. Between lackluster road play and their recent struggles in this rivalry, I don’t see the Royals winning — especially after yesterday’s collapse. The Guardians are the AL Central leaders for a reason, so look for them to prove that fact.

We’ll also take Cleveland to cover the run line. The Guardians’ 54.2% success rate against the run line as the home favorite ranks fourth-best in the Majors this season. Additionally, each of their last eight home wins against the Royals came by two or more runs.

In his first 59 games this season, Ramirez has emerged as one of baseball’s top performers, notching an impressive total of 46 runs and leading the MLB with an impressive 58 RBIs. Recently, in his last 12 games, the perennial MVP contender has further solidified his stature, accumulating a remarkable 16 runs and 17 RBIs (averaging 2.8 per game). Along the way, he has surpassed the predicted number 11 times, leaving no doubt about his exceptional performance.

Ramirez’s impressive track record against the Royals, with a 14-5 Over record in his last 19 games, speaks volumes. During this period, he recorded 19 RBIs and 18 runs. Given his remarkable consistency, I am highly confident in Ramirez’s ability to deliver once more.
