On Monday, the 2024 NBA Finals concluded, and now it could be time for the Stanley Cup Final series. Tonight, the Florida Panthers have an opportunity to secure their first-ever franchise championship. They will be hosting the Edmonton Oilers for Game 5 at 8 p.m. ET.

The Oilers staved off elimination over the week with a huge 8-1 victory over the Panthers in Game 4. Connor McDavid led the charge with a four-point night (1 G, 3 A) as the three-time Hart Memorial Trophy broke Wayne Gretzky’s record for most assists in a playoff run.

Will Edmonton be able to make lightning strike twice or will Florida secure the series tonight?

We will explore my predictions and top bets for Game 5 of the Oilers vs. Panthers match and the Stanley Cup Final.

  • In their last 16 home games against Edmonton, Florida has a record of 4 wins and 12 losses.
  • Edmonton’s last seven road games all resulted in the Under hitting the total.

Oilers vs Panthers NHL Game 5 Predictions & Pick (6/18)

Despite losing three consecutive games at the start of this series, many had dismissed the Oilers. However, the team has proven them wrong and is now traveling back to Florida with the goal of narrowing the Panthers’ lead in the Stanley Cup Final to just one game.

The Oilers’ attempt to capitalize on their recent momentum will be intriguing to watch. The blowout victory against the Panthers over the weekend came as a surprise, especially considering the outcomes of the first three games. In the initial matches, Edmonton only managed to score four goals combined, but they significantly turned things around by scoring eight goals in Game 4. Sergei Bobrovsky, the goaltender for Florida, struggled by allowing five goals on just 16 shots before being substituted by Alex Stolarz, who also had a subpar performance.

Will Panthers G Sergei Bobrovsky bounce back tonight?

The Panthers are coming back to Amerant Bank Arena, having won four consecutive games. In each of those games, they limited their opponents to two goals or fewer. Furthermore, they dominated the Oilers by outscoring them 7-1 in the first two games of this series.

Despite winning the last three meetings at Amerant Bank Arena, the Panthers have had a poor record against the Oilers in their home games since the 2002-03 NHL season. Edmonton has emerged victorious in 12 out of the last 16 matchups, indicating their proficiency in winning games in Florida.

However, the significance of recent outcomes cannot be overlooked. Despite their lack of recent success against Florida, the Oilers have only won one out of their last six games against Eastern Conference teams, while the Panthers have won eight out of their last ten games against Western opponents. It is important to mention that Edmonton has lost five out of six games this season when they were considered the underdog against a team from a different conference.

Conversely, when favored against teams from the West, Florida has a record of 18-9-1.

The Panthers manhandled the Eastern Conference this season.

While the Oilers kept their dreams alive the other night, I’m rolling with the Panthers in Game 5. Paul Maurice’s club will get back on track after a lackluster effort and I’m confident that Bobrovsky will look like his old self. McDavid and the Oilers will press and challenge, but this series ends tonight.

Let’s also take the Under on the 5.5-goal total. After all, the Under is 7-0 in Edmonton’s last seven road games as well as 5-1 in Florida’s last six at home. considering how the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final finished with five or fewer goals, we’re likely in for a low-scoring tilt.

Best Oilers vs Panthers NHL Game 5 Player Prop (6/18)

In this series, Rodrigues has emerged as one of the top performers for the Panthers, having accumulated four points in as many games. The experienced 30-year-old player has consistently surpassed the set benchmark in five out of his last eight matches, resulting in a total of six points. Additionally, it’s worth noting that in his recent three home games, the Over outcome has been successful in all three instances.

I have confidence in Rodrigues successfully fulfilling this prop bet once more, as long as he maintains his playing time alongside Florida’s top players and on the power play.
