Not only will Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers be the championship decider happening tonight, but in Omaha, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Tennessee will also compete in Game 3 of the College World Series championship series (7:00 pm ET, ESPN).
For the first time in the program’s history, the national champion title will be bestowed upon the winner of tonight’s all-SEC showdown at Charles Schwab Field.
In the first game on Saturday, #3 Texas A&M (53-14) took an early lead and eventually secured a 9-5 victory. However, in the second game yesterday, the Aggies were leading 1-0 and were only seven outs away from clinching the title. Unfortunately, Dylan Dreiling and Cal Stark of #1 Tennessee (59-13) hit two crucial home runs late in the game, leading to a season-saving 4-1 win for the Volunteers.
The presence of two SEC teams in the finals ensures that the conference will secure its fifth consecutive national title in college baseball.
However, which team will dominate tonight’s game? The highly ranked #1 Vols are expected to win and aim to be the first top-seeded team to win the title since the Miami Hurricanes in 1999.

Texas A&M vs Tennessee Betting Analysis
Tonight’s matchup between the Aggies and Vols will be the 12th winner-take-all decider since the best-of-three championship series returned in 2003.
In 8 out of the last 11 occurrences, the total runs scored were ten or less. However, last year was an exception to that trend when LSU dominated Florida with a score of 18-4 in a clash between SEC West and SEC East.
In the past four editions of the College World Series, this marks the third time these two teams have faced each other. The West has emerged victorious in the previous two matchups. In 2021, Mississippi State, who had never won the championship before, managed to overcome a Game 1 defeat and ultimately defeat Vanderbilt.
Even though Tennessee is favored to finish off a stellar season with a 60th win and a championship breakthrough, this is no time to doubt Texas A&M. They may be a heavy underdog, but they are here for a reason, even after losing star slugger Braden Montgomery in the supers.
Despite utilizing five pitchers in yesterday’s loss, the Aggies maintain formidable pitching depth. Furthermore, Justin Lamkin, tonight’s starting pitcher, has exhibited exceptional performance in the College World Series. In his two appearances against Florida, Lamkin has conceded a mere four hits and one walk while recording an impressive 15 strikeouts across eight innings.
In the upcoming game, Tennessee will respond by putting Zander Sechrist on the mound. Sechrist showcased exceptional pitching skills during the semifinals, leading his team to victory against Florida State. There is a possibility that he will deliver a similar performance tonight. However, if A&M manages to secure a late lead for the third consecutive game, I believe their chances of shutting down Tennessee and securing the title will be even greater. Evan Aschenbeck, who has been reliable in closing games, is likely to play a crucial role in sealing the victory for A&M.
