Wings vs Sky Prediction & Picks (6/20): Whose Winless Skid Will End in the Windy City?

The Dallas Wings and Chicago Sky are both facing a challenging June, but their upcoming game offers a chance for one team to finally break their losing streak and find some relief.

Today’s game at Wintrust Arena has a unique start time of noon Eastern time, deviating from the usual weekday evening schedule.

Having lost their last eight games, the Wings (3-10) suffered a 90-78 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Lynx on Monday. After today’s match in the Windy City, Dallas will head to the nation’s capital for a weekend doubleheader against the struggling Washington Mystics.

The Mystics were the opposing team in Chicago’s recent win. However, following that 79-71 victory exactly two weeks ago, the Sky (4-9) have suffered four consecutive losses. Their most recent defeat was against Indiana, where they lost 91-83 on Sunday. This game garnered significant attention, as it was the highest-watched WNBA game since 2001. In total, Chicago has only won twice in their last ten games, after starting the season with a promising 2-1 record.

Whose sorrowful streak will finally conclude, or at least be momentarily halted, today? Despite being heavily favored, is it justified for the home team?

Dallas Wings vs Chicago Sky Betting Analysis

I advise against considering the spread for this matchup if you are contemplating touching it, regardless of which side you choose.

The Wings have been greatly affected by injuries this season, as both Satou Sabally and Natasha Howard have been unable to play. Sabally has been sidelined for the entire season, while Howard has been out since the opening game against the Sky.

Arike Ogunbowale was absent from Monday’s defeat against the Lynx due to Achilles soreness and her participation in today’s game is uncertain. Maddy Siegrist, who has played a vital role for the Wings this season, will also be sidelined due to a finger injury sustained in the match against Minnesota.

Despite the possibility of Ogunbowale making a comeback in the game against Chicago, her recent performances have been lackluster, with the exception of last Thursday’s impressive showing against the Seattle Storm. In Saturday’s defeat to the Connecticut Sun, she struggled, hitting just 2 out of 15 shots. Throughout this month, her shooting percentages have been subpar, with only 34.1% from the field and 28% from three-point range in six games.

Despite the Wings’ recent streak of seven consecutive losses, each by a margin of seven or more points, and the possibility of missing another starter today, the Sky are not a team that inspires much confidence when faced with such a large point spread.

Despite facing strong competition, they have managed to maintain an impressive record this season, never losing by more than 13 points. This achievement is even more remarkable when you realize that the only other team in the league with a similar record is the 13-1 Sun, whose sole defeat came in a close seven-point game against the New York Liberty.

However, the most advantageous strategy for this particular matchup is to prioritize the overall score and player proposition bets. These options remain enticing, even in the event of Ogunbowale missing another consecutive game.
